Giving Back to Your Community by Volunteering

In the 2009-10 academic year, the University of California and the University of California, Riverside will face unprecedented financial challenges. While the university will navigate through these challenges, there are many in our surrounding communities who will not be able to make ends meet. UC Riverside has partnered with a number of volunteer organizations to find a way for you to lend a hand to your neighbors in need through a program called You See UCR in the Community.

As you think of how you will spend your furlough days, whether it is an extended vacation with family or an extra day to work around the house, take a moment to think about those in your community who won’t be going back to work and who need a helping hand. Below you will find a number of organizations that will help you make that link from wanting to get involved to actually serving in your community.
